Recently I began to hear about a band that is adding a rotten flavour to the community. Its putrid smell seems to be rising from the sewers and making its way into venues around town. Well naturally I had to check it out for myself.
Walking through the dense fog of like a scene out of a John Carpenter film, 4grotesque figures appear like a bunch of zombies from Return of the Living Dead. To my surprise, the opening song is “Return of the Living Dead”.
By the third song, I realize they like to write about creepy things. In this case it was about a wayward shipping vessel that has an unfathomable journey into darkness. With old lamps and dense fog, they plowed your vision with nightmarish details.
This band is a cumulation of other dark acts. They have songs similar to Iron Maiden, they look like an early version of Gwar including various props to play with. They also work at their theatrics like Alice Cooper.
At this stage I won’t give up what happens with this act, because if you love Heavy Metal and you love B-Rated movie themes with all the theatrics, this is a band you need to check out.
I particularly enjoyed their take on a classic Cronenberg film. Like a good bunch of zombies they do love their blood and brains.
