The Rockpile is hosting a very important show this Sunday. One of our Metal Comrades has fallen and we need to step up and fight back! His name was Bob Shaw and he was an important influence in the Metal community.
It started about 15 years ago, that Bob Shaw started his journey into the Metal world leading the underground scene with a hardcore style of Slam Metal, which has all the fixings of Slam, Gore and even an Alien style crunchfest! Not only did he front some hard core bands like Brain Spasm and Cuff, he helped promote the scene around the GTA, especially in the Oshawa area. He was also a great mentor to people who wanted to be part of the scene. He taught people how merchandising works and how to present it to the fans all around the world. Like any great Metal head knows, we are all really tough on the outside, and will fight for what we want, but when you become part of the community we are some of the nicest people you will ever meet, because of our love for the music and our authentic nature.
Bob Shaw, was diagnosed with acute Myloid Luekemia and passed away less than a year later. He did everything he could to fight off this disease, but lost due to an infection near the end of his treatments. His newlywed bride, Amanda who moved up to Canada from California is left devastated and it is time for us to step up to the plate and help out. There is a Go Fund me page you can donate to. It would even be cooler if you could make it out to the show Sunday April 17 at the Rockpile to support our community. The address is 5555 Dundas St west and the show starts at 7pm.
