Let your Freak Frog Fly!

What can I say about seeing the Friendly Frogs Freak show for the very first time? Well, they are a very ribbiting band to watch and participate to. I loved watching them leaping about on a stage as if the floor is hotter than Georgia asphalt.

Most of their songs are short; intense that hop, skips, and jumps around on a vibrating lily pad.

Even the audience comes dressed up, like dogs, grogs and people writing strange blogs.

The band is made up of 6 different frog personalities and loves to have a horny time as they wail on a saxophone, trumpet and what I can only describe as a Frogophone. This band is seriously messed up in the most beautiful way as the noise penetrates your spring-loaded legs.

They hail from Montreal and they will work for flies. They passed around a tip jar for beers and insects. This is a band that works up a terrible thirst, so the more beer the better.

It was clear from the beginning this crowd knew who these amphibians were, because between each song they would ribbit in the next tune. This was like watching a live Looney tunes cartoon. It was pure madness that hit you between your bulging eyes like a Croaker, a Joker and a midnight Toker!

They finished the first half of the show with the classic tune- Froggy Mountain Breakdown, Toad style.

After they took a break to go outside and explode, they came back stronger and crazier than before.

This was the moment a chicken showed up; people were stuck inside the video game frogger, jumping back and forth. There was even a dude came from the street to stick a fifty-dollar bill to one of the mike stands. Not only was this moment worth it, but it was priceless at the same time.

Now that they had more money, the drummer requested more beer to clear that human in his throat.

The band decided to go back to old stuff and dissect it to death. These flying horny frogs were a mixture of high energy, experimental jazz sounds, a little Prog frog and just enough swampiness to make you want to lick some toads. I love a good psychedelic frog band. You don’t see that much anymore. If you have never witnessed one, you will have to wait until they come back from Montréal.

By the end of the show, the entire audience was started to get that funky flavour of Swamp permeating throughout Houndstooth.

The crowd did not give up and wanted more, except that the band drank so much, you had to wait until they went to the bathroom to pee. While we waited, there was a lot of bad frog jokes being told to keep us engaged.

Hey, what is a frog’s favourite drink? Beer, because they love the hops!
