On my first flight of this wonderful jazz exposure, I got to experience some weightlessness. Well, I am a pretty light bird, so it is not a stretch for me.

Each song is extremely well constructed and has a fine balance to it. The themes are very large and can be quite cinematic at times. Take the opening track, “Flight”. It has a smooth and clean take off. It is wonderful ride through an open and adventurous spirit. The joy is in the how light you feel during this soaring navigational excursion.

Did you ever make a toy boat and float it down a river? Now imagine yourself as Captain of this boat and you will be part of “Song of the River”.

These three gentlemen, Jeremy Ledbetter on Piano, Rich Brown on Bass and Larnell Lewis on Drums creates sounds of exploration and adventure on this recording. The overall vibe is both joyous and positive. The interplay between them feels flawless.

“Wonder”, feels like a dance of abundance as the energy swirls around your receptivity of observation.

“Two Cousins” are like a pair of fun souls who like to play with mischief as they stroll through life.

I particularly enjoy Rich Brown’s bass playing in the piece, “The stars in her sky”. His tenderness really brings out the full beauty this universal romance. It has a vastness that can be felt worldwide.

Larnell Lewis contributes his unique style of playing that really stands out on two pieces. “Flight”, soars because of his drumming and “Gravity” will have you hanging from the ceiling to give you the full spectrum of this exploration of weightlessness and exultation.

The universe was aligned when this was being put together and constructed. The metaphysical journeys are both generous and ample. It is one of the smoothest jazz records I have heard in quite a while.

Each piece is carefully constructed and executed with consistent quality.  “Gravity” will keep your chicken legs on the ground as your imagination watches the cow jump over the moon. A true golden egg has been delivered here.
