Dandelion Highway- The Crossing

Dandelion Highway released a 5 song EP. If you are a fan of folk music, this is one of the sweetest, happiest and joyful little gems you would want in your collection.

The opening track, “Home”, feels like a glorious trek back to a place, where your heart belongs. It kind of feels like a Celtic Walk along the Yellow Brick Road.

“We are Gold” is their single and has that hot chocolate on a cold day warmth to it. Let’s say you replaced the snow in a snow globe and put gold flickers in its place, you will hear this song playing in the background.

The two lead singers, Chris and Kayleigh really complement each other when harmonizing. Chris has that reassuring sound that lets you know he can truly be a friend when you need one. Kayleigh’s Irish accent adds that special ingredient to give Dandelion Highway that wistful dreaminess to lift your burdens.

You can hear that in “The Crossing”, because of the quixotic mood of anticipation. The idea of just arriving heightens the level of joy.

I believe every good folk band should have a song called “Lullaby” in their catalog. I am happy to report that this band has got one. It happens to be a stellar little song as well.

“Croi Alainn” finishes off this EP, and to the best of my knowledge the title is a sentiment of Love. If you really listen deeply to this song, it is the little details that really give this love song true life.

Folk music fans, this is something for your collection. I predict this band will be a strong staple in the Toronto scene for a very long time if they produce music like this.
