There is a new kind of concert experience happening in Toronto. The company is Called 74 Experience, and they brought their 3 ringed circus to The Smith house. They handed out special coasters that would bring you to their website and share pictures of the evening with you as a souvenir. They dressed up a wall to take fun pictures of yourself at the party and even had their own media out grabbing footage of the evening for a live stream.
KILCASCA
The first band to hit the stage was a young man wearing a fuzzy hat. He immediately reminded me of the artist Jamiroqua. His sound started of very chilled and laid-back R&B vibe. His set was a good mix of cover songs and original tunes. The seven-piece band had good harmonies and floating melodies that kept the crowd feeling like they were hovering over the floor.
He decided to do an Alicia Keys tune and did that with conviction. Kilcasca also pulled out an original song called “Tangerine”. If you like your music smooth, this band will deliver like skating on a pond.
The final song was another original called “Distance”, that added a medium high energy vibe.

ESSARE
This was the reason we were there. Sean, who is the singer, was sharing his new EP called, “Stages”. It began with a philosophical voice reminiscent of Alan Watts. This set the tone for this 4 song EP. It was Essare asking the crowd to join them on an exploration with them. Each song had its own flavour, with light heated pop energy to a slow burner to bring you into a thinking mood.
Sean kept the crowd entertained by jumping off stage and busting his moves in front of a fun crowd. He is working hard to be a true entertainer. We will just have to wait and watch what he will do next.

AVRO ARROW
Finishing off the evening was a band that loves putting out their high energy rock. Avro Arrow is out to create some noise. My only complaint was as the evening progressed; the sound system got louder. It seemed they liked to turn it up to 11. This is a band that doesn’t need to do that. They like to experiment with different techniques and styles of music to keep them interesting.
I was surprised to see one of the members wearing a Max Webster T-shirt on stage. I hope they take a couple of lessons from this classic Toronto band. Avro Arrow had moment of a little doom and gloom and then had some decent pop sensibility. They could definitely rock out and look like they are having a good time doing it.
You can see a bit of their performance on our Instagram page. I will give this band a little more time to see how they are growing as young artists. They look like they are having fun and have the chops to go in any direction they want. Where will they go next?
