Dandelion Highway
Dandelion Highway made their way “Home” at the Painted Lady, where they have played on that stage in the past. Well this homecoming was not about Christmas, but about their brand new single, “We are Gold” from their EP, The Crossing.
They started the show off with a kick by immediately going into their song, “Home”. There was no hello, or long introductions. They just appeared and you were rapidly soothed by their warm and caring sounds.
The next song is one I get a kick out of. It is called “Spooky” and there is nothing frightful about this song. It may be the least scary song you could play at Halloween, but charming none the less.
The singer Chris laughed and said he has to be professional now, as he looked at his set list and had to introduce everyone who was onstage.
Well we had, Kayleigh McGavok on guitar and vocals
Chris Sytnyk- Bass and Vocals
Katia Valisolalao- Vocals
Daniel Monte- Violin
Robin Mason- Drums
Angel Gomez- Vocals
The band went back all the way to their beginning to play the first song they ever recorded. This was a time when they were searching for a name. They had a choice between Dandelion Highway and Walkie Talkie Snowman. I am open for discussion. Did they make the right choice?
I would say their song “The Crossing” comes off as a big warm homecoming hug. They finished the evening off with the reason everyone was there. They launched into their new single called, “We are Gold”. Was it gold? It felt pretty shiny to me.
Here is Dandelion Highway paving Gold:
Cassidy Taylor
Speaking of shiny, Cassidy Taylor started of the show with a list of her very light-hearted pop tunes. She was able to squeeze one Christmas song in there without over-powering the place with too many songs of the festive season. We all go to the Mall if that’s what we want.
Being a photographer for decades, Cassidy said something simple and profound. She asked everyone to take out their phones and videotape this moment, simply because we will never get it back. That is the reason I became a photographer. I wanted to record people’s personal history so when they look back they could have a strong memory of that place in time.
Cassidy finished her set with “Let it Burn” which seemed to be a statement about being bright in the moment. We may have a philosophical pop star on our hands.
Up close and personal with Cassidy Taylor:
