For a young chick who feels couped up all the time, this is the kind of album I need in my life. These are pieces of music that travel the world, even though I can’t right now. All I do is open my mind up jump on an astral plane and go to each of these songs with both vigor and a sense of relief.

Johannes creates atmospheric pieces of music to transport you away from the doldrums of reality. This new material has him jumping around the world capturing the essence of a particular place.

“Veradero Sombrero”, starts you off mellow and relaxed. You can feel yourself breathing slower as you let an afternoon just breeze by. Other places that this band takes you are in their arrangements with names like, “Kealakekua Bay”, “Guajira”, and “Peruvian skies”.

Being a chick that loves nature, I was drawn towards his fun and playful tune called “7 monkeys”. This can bring you back to the time when you were a kid and flying around on the jungle gym.

“Firefly” comes to me like a happy little insect that seems perfectly comfortable flitting about in the night sky. This is getting back to nature right between your ears.

There is also a romantic component to his music. Johannes does a reflective piece with soft romantic leanings on “Dark Bossa”. He then continues right after with another amorous and dreamy moment with, “Dark of the night”

Johannes vision to capture wonderful moments can only work if you are the kind of person who wants to share this with somebody close to you. His music is made for people getting closer and wants to experience the many flavours of life.  He paints sonic landscapes for you viewing pleasure.  A piece like, “Arabesque” feels like a cinematic world that slowly unfolds as you open up to new adventures and seek out new perspectives. With each and every arrangement, you simply have to lean back with a soothing drink and feel the weight of the world drop away.

Since I am only a young chick and cannot afford an expensive vacation anywhere, I will simply have to buy this CD and travel to these places in my fertile imagination and Johannes Linstead is the captain that takes you on these fulfilling journeys.
