The Rockpile said Goodbye to Romance and Ozzy Osbourne who passed away on July 22 this year. The tributes have been pouring in from all over the world praising Ozzy for his contribution to Heavy Metal music. I have a feeling these tributes will be going on for quite a while.
Blizzard of a Madman
The First band up was Blizzard of a Madman whose name derives from the first two solo albums by Ozzy. The band ran through a long list of Ozzy’s hits over the years, like “Flying High Again”, “Bark at the Moon” and of course “Crazy Train”.
They also dug a little deeper and pulled out some song only true fans would love like, “Deceiver”, and “Road to Nowhere”.
There were a couple of notable moments where “Ozzy” passed the microphone to an audience member during the song, “No more Tears”. I had a feeling she did not want to give it back. She knew all the words.
Then the moment happened when my concert partner, Butter Chicken got so excited she flew onto the stage during, “Goodbye to Romance”. The singer was both excited and confused by her behavior. He took it in stride and even sang to her for a short bit before sending her back to the crowd.
Here is the evidence- https://www.instagram.com/reel/DNIfsNcu3Ql/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
What I enjoyed about this band was that the singer really did sound like Ozzy Osbourne. So if you are ever in need to sit back, relax and enjoy the Ozzy, I highly recommend this band.
A tribute to Ozzy-
Strictly Sabbath
I have heard this name around town for a while and now I had a chance to witness their tribute to the best Metal band ever!
Well, they did not disappoint. The set list they chose was well constructed to pay tribute to the Prince of Darkness.
When you open your set with, “Symptom of the Universe”, you know you are in for a real treat!
Like any fair-weather fan, you had the big songs like, “Iron Man”, “Never Say Die” and “Paranoid”. For the true fan, you got to hear the deeper cuts. This is where I almost forgot to be working as I rocked out to songs like. “Supernaut”, “Into the Void”, and “Electric Funeral”.
Well, there I was with Butter when she got a little overly excited and leapt on stage during “War Pigs”. Let just say it did not end very well. It was like this Ozzy turned into a maniacal Colonel Sanders and chaos ensued.
I hate to show it, but I do have video proof- https://www.instagram.com/reel/DNIfGZjNm59/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
If you love Ozzy there was a packed house at the Rockpile.If you love Ozzy, you really missed out on a great time. But, don’t worry; Strictly Sabbath will be back in September for another round of great tribute songs.
I will add this to my Events calendar so you don’t miss this fantastic tribute to the Godfather of Metal.
