Nicky Koro is an artist that is in a Weezer Tribute band. You will soon read about this artist in an up andcoming article on Blast Toronto. He is also doing his solo side project to get his music out there. Nicky performed at the Burdock recently and brought two other bands to play with. This is what happened…
Untimely Dosage
This is a band that literally came out screaming. I mean screaming like little girls having an emotional breakdown and throwing their baggage off the stage. If they really did have a piece of luggage, it would be best to prepare yourself to duck.
In fact, the best way I can describe their Punk Rock sound would be they sound like a bunch of white nihilist kamikazes that want to crash their plane. That should be the end of my report, but they kept their set interesting.
The singer went into a rant about how nothing matters and how we are all created in a circle of chaos. Then they went and proceeded to show us how that would sound.
At one point one of their more interesting songs reminded me of Sepultura’s song that contained the lyric, Biotech is Godzilla. In the case of their song, Godzilla had a really bad hangnail. Haha…
I did really enjoy the moment the band were telling us about having a parasite in our brain and then finished the set with plenty of random screams. I hope the next time I see them there will be more random acts of destruction then just losing your voice.

Big Milk
Big Milk takes on a more straight forward approach to their wanton manic behavior. The start simple and straight forward and build into a steady diet of convulsive mania.
Lead screamer Ethan keeps his punk mantra simple. When I scream, you scream, it’s cheaper than therapy. They sing about promises and they sing about soup. This may be the band that is your chicken soup for your soul, as long as there is a bone stuck in your throat.
This band is like a blank carton without an expiry date printed on it. You don’t really know what you are drinking. It is chocolate? Is it Strawberry? They have delicious moments, and you don’t know if it is soy, almond or cashew. It can get lumpy if you are not careful and the only thing that can truly spoil it, is having a lame mosh pit.
At one point without them knowing it, they even argued against Untimely Dosage’s philosophy of chaos and hypothesized a divine purpose to all of this. They clarified their rebuke with an intellectual rebuttal. Wow, philosophical punk on a hump day…is that chaos or divine?

Nicky Koro
Before we could analyze the finer point to this theology, Nicky Koro got up on stage very quickly started his show with a straight forward sense of power pop. His original songs has some small hooks and I did detect a bit of Weezer in his sound.
Nicky did praise his band for being better musicians and he was on his journey to becoming better. I think first you need to start off with a cool looking guitar…check. He plays a flying Z with a lightning bolt strap. That really gives him the image of a Rock Star.
He chose his cover songs well. The third one in was Cheap Trick’s, “I want you to want me”. He looked great with all those restless moves and inspired his band to join in on the fun.
As a smart move, he threw in some Tragically Hip and did “Grace Too”. He was finishing off his set with I usually call Fake Punk and had a Green Day vibe to it. When his band was rocking out to this, you can tell they were on stage to deliver the goods and give it everything they got.
They finished off their set with a new song and it was the first time that they played it live. This band is new and is willing to try anything to make it to a new level. He still has a few gigs around the GTA, so stay tuned and watch the next hard working band.
