When it comes to singing about all your feelings, Charlie A’Court certainly is no chicken. He writes about life experiences of people who struggle through life. The themes usually come from hard moments and sorrow, but that doesn’t stop him from rocking out glorious songs like, “Two Days of Highway” that is filled with excitement for a future you are driving towards.
Charlie will even throw in a waltz that will put a smile on your face while you dance on, “Citadel Hill”. Charlie even tossed in a Country Folk song with, “Don’t give me that look. His musicality explores different styles. Even though you may be heading through different styles of music, the consistency is very smooth, and he doesn’t stray away from the human quality that makes this entire record worth listening too.
One of the saddest moments comes when you listen to, “Home is just a house now”. It is a song about a family falling apart due to bad circumstances. It is so well written that your CD may get wet while listening to this song. The next song, “Sins of the Father” turns everything around very quickly with a song of redemption.
There are moments of seeking out spiritual peace. There are moments of walking with pride and carrying the old ways as a traditional shield. Hey if you want him to, “Play me something good”, he does that as well. I love this one, because it reminds of a good Allman Brothers song. It feels like enjoying a nice cold treat on a hot day. It is a truly feel-good song.
By the time you reach the end of this album, there is a sense of a refreshed life. It is like waking up to a glorious sunrise as you get ready for life again.
What can I say, even though there may be some trouble in your hen house, there are other and more powerful forces out there to make this all worthwhile. That seems to be the message of this record, so grab a copy today and start living again.
