Stephen Stanley & NoElectric Live in the Green Sanderson Hall at Hugh’s Room, 296 Broadview Avenue
Show at 8pm, Doors at 7pm
$30+ in advance, $37+ at the door
Jason Mercer and Stephen Stanley spent the last year dancing around the idea of how they might play some music together.
After a booking at The St. Alban’s Hall in Adolphustown, Ontario in May 2025 was followed by an interesting request to make the show all-acoustic, Stephen Stanley & NoElectric was born. It was a no-brainer that Stephen’s closest collaborator for the past 15 years, Chris Bennett, would join in on 6 and 12 string guitars.
Over a decade ago, one of the jewels of the Toronto music scene was a bar in the
Junction called The Troubadour. It was there that Stephen first met Michael O’Grady, and not long after, he became the focus of the third verse of a song Stephen wrote called “The Troubadour’s Song”. Michael is a brilliant live performer and brings both the accordion and the tin whistle to the NoElectric fold.
Jennifer Foster
Toronto singer-songwriter Jennifer Foster brings her brand new album Powerline to Hugh’s Room, in support of Stephen Stanley & NoElectric. Praised by Ron Sexsmith as “a wonderful collection of songs,” Powerline is an acoustic-driven folk-pop record inspired in part by the New Brunswick farm where she grew up, with songs about place, memory, love and loss that are both meaningful and musically surprising. Powerline marks Foster’s fourth release. Her previous album earned a JUNO nomination for Producer of the Year (Michael Phillip Wojewoda), and she has collaborated across the Canadian music community with artists including Ron Sexsmith, Carole Pope, Lori Cullen, Kevin Hearn, Moe Berg and The Pursuit of Happiness. Friday November 6.
