No Happy Rhodes for the Security Project

Security Project

The Security Project hit the Garrison in fine fashion. If you don’t know who this band is, they are a shackle of musicians celebrating the early works of Peter Gabriel. Just ask Jerry Marotta on drums, he was there at the time. This band slightly reinvents the energy of Peter original work and brings new light to his incredible music.

I was excited to see Trey Gunn from King Crimson representing on Bass guitar. David Jameson held the rhapsodic animation on Keyboards, and Michael Cozzi kept you enraptured in his shriekback way of playing. The only one missing was Happy Rhodes who fell ill before the performance with a bad throat. With that said, the band rang up a chap named Josh Gleason three hours before the show and came on like a super trooper.

The band focused on Peter Gabriel’s first four albums, which had the polite crowd feeling excited and young again. The band were not here to play Peter’s hits like Sledgehammer or In your Eyes, instead they went for all the deep cuts.

Some of the highlights of the show were songs like, San Jacinto, Lay your hands on me, I have the touch, Wallflower, and Humdrum. You would have to be a pretty diehard fan to understand these gems.

Under the circumstances the show went very well and the band came out to greet fans and sign autographs. I am glad I brought some of my CD collection to get signed an I even bought their new CD called Contact, which has been playing in my car for quite a time now.

I know there are plenty of Genesis tribute acts as well as Peter Gabriel acts, I encourage you to see them all, but keep Security Project high on your list if you see them coming to your town.
