I really want to be part of this flocking movement! This is Zuffalo’s third release, and it is a Blast from beginning to end. Zuffalo has created 11 brand new and original songs that will get you up and doing the Chicken Dance, or whatever you humans call it.
From the first notes of “Morning Light”, it awakens the senses in you to be fresh and open and ready for a beautiful day. They get into some “Tension”, by the next song, but it is so joyful, I didn’t feel any tension or stress.
When I listen to “Beautiful Jane”, I feel that if Bob Dylan and George Harrison wrote a song together it could be this song. This album may be called The Travelling Zuffalo’s based on this tune.
That is the beauty about this band. The level of song style this band emits takes each one of us on a separate journey and opens up snippets of altered world that makes these experiences very fulfilling.
They have an incredible ability to add their Pop sound and lend it to a Country idea, or a psychedelic idea or even something downright funky. You have a lot of choice with these guys.
Speaking of Funk, “Digging a Hole”, is filled with those cool vibes that smother you in their love and tenderness.
I think they even poke fun at Billy Ocean with their rendition of, “Why don’t you jump into my K-Car? This is a really fun ride.
“Patching the Quilt” and “Bloom” both has a Santana vibe to it. It is a gentle ride that helps me drift along the river of life.
For a band that sounds so easy and loose, I am still surprised at how well they make every note work in each and every song.
I will make the obvious recommendation. If you love the Grateful Dead, Phish or any of those bands that create those colourful hippie sounds, Zuffalo is a band that you need to attach yourself too. They are a local band that has the sound and talent to become a band we can be proud for and get behind. They are doing everything right.
