Warrior Women Love

This article is just my point of view of why you should be going out to see live music happening on Saturday Oct 3rd at the Painted lady. This show has a purpose to give back to the community.

This story started about 2 years ago. I contacted Rose Cora Perry to ask if she would add me to the guest list of a show she was doing at the El Mocambo.

From the moment we started this phone conversation, I was a little fascinated at how well our banter went back and forth. I guess when you have two people talking about music passionately, this makes life an easier place to be. It not just about music but how you resonate in this world, it is a true way of being. Rose has that passion and she is always willing to show it off anyway she can.

When she approached me about this new tour, I jumped on board right away and wanted to help her achieve her goals. There are many reasons for my decision. One, for a person to put her heart and soul into everything she does was one reason.

Reason two was because she was able to wrangle 24 bands to join her on this tour and play with her at many different cities. Her line ups are very thoughtful, and she chooses other talented women to join her up on the same stage. Clearly this woman makes friends everywhere she goes.

As far as the Toronto show goes, she has on the bill, her band The Truth Untold, Carmen Toth, Smoking in Bed, Nerima, and Neon Bloom (who just had a very successful show at the CNE being on the NXNE stage.

Reason 3, this show has 5 quality acts and the ticket price is only $10! That is like $2.00 per band. I would sacrifice 5 days without Tim Horton’s coffee to be at a show like this.

Reason 4, this not just a show to show us how powerful these women are, the proceeds of this show go to Yellow House.

They’re one of Ontario’s largest providers of services to women and children escaping domestic violence and abuse. Since 1978, Yellow Brick House has provided life-saving services and prevention programs to meet the diverse needs of individuals, families, and communities impacted by violence. Their core services support women and children looking to escape these cycles. These include emergency shelters, a 24/7 crisis and support line, public education, community counseling and support services.

Base on that last paragraph, how could you turn down $10 to go and see 5 bands perform a rocking concert in an intimate setting?

The event is $10 and 19+. Doors open at 6:45 pm. Advanced Tickets are available at: https://square.link/u/UVw0ucz3

As a P.S. note, I recently asked the question, would you rather see original live music or a live cover band. You answered strongly with original music. This evening will have 5 bands playing original music. Here is your chance to prove yourself, take a chance and see original music for very little money. You may surprise yourself and find an artist that you will want to follow in the future.
