It was the early 2000s, she was fresh out of highschool and it was her first ever Toronto appearance. While she’s earned her stripes since then by commanding stages at world-renowned venues from Summer NAMM to The Whisky-a-Go-Go and Vans Warped Tour, Rose Cora Perry is eager to return once again to the Six’s famed El Mocambo, on Tuesday, June 6th for this year’s Indie Night in Canada.
Her latest project, award-winning rock trio, The Truth Untold, were among 18 bands selected out of 185 applicants to showcase at the legendary GTA venue.
In the words of co-founder Kristen Cholak, Perry’s ‘persistence’ paid off when aiming to garner a performance spot. Given the success of her band’s hit single, “Not My Time” which has seen radio play on 50 stations across North America and earned 70,000 views on Youtube within four months of release, it’s only fitting that The Truth Untold were selected to showcase as one of “Canada’s hottest independent buzz bands.”
Founded in 2009, Indie Night in Canada (INIC) aims to help performing artists and industry pros connect in a meaningful and more structured way to in turn help artists grow their careers.
There will be two stages running the eve of Tuesday, June 6th – The Starlite Room and Under the Neon Palms – from 7:00 pm until 2:00 am. Other showcasing acts include: 5th Projekt, Back Alley Gospel, Circle The City, Cudbear, Derev, Fall Of Earth, Fluffio, Frail Fragment, Live Animals, Living Dead Girl, Moondoggy, Scarlet Sins, Spades GT, Taylor Simpson & The Wishful Feeling, Ted Axe, The Sunset Drip & Us Or Aliens.
Rose Cora Perry & The Truth Untold will be performing on Stage 2 (Under the Neon Palms) at 8:00 pm. The event is 19+. Doors open at 6:00 pm. Tickets are $20 in advance and $30 at the door.
