Lee Fields Band came on stage to warm up the audience, before this powerful R&B artist got the crowd moving. He started with a soulful rendition of Just can’t win, then got everybody excited with I still got it. Boy does he still got IT! Also known as little JB, you can’t help but compare his vocal styles to the legendary, James Brown.
For a guy who has been in this business for 45 years, you just can’t believe the strength and stamina of both his voice and his dance moves. With songs like, Talk to somebody, Don’t leave me this way, and Don’t walk, you feel like you have entered into the Ministry of Soul.
Lee bears his soul with the cheatin’ song, Two timer, where his lady is sneaking around on the side. I f that wasn’t nasty enough, Lee goes into Money is King. A song about the evil money can bring to your life. Just when things were looking dark, Lee proves he is a faithful man. The crowd rises from the ashes and has a great sing along just before Lee says his goodbyes.
Even though Lee fields and the Expressions was part of a double bill, the set seems way to short. So I propose to get Lee back soon for a full performance.
