Musical Meat at the Market

Apr. 26—Handle Bar, Kensington Market, Toronto. This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of catching a great show at Handle Bar in Kensington Market. This PWYC show featured four great Toronto bands.

Heat

Heat was the first of four bands on the lineup, and this four-piece set the tone early with a powerful, high-energy set to start the night off right.

Big Milk

Big Milk was second to grace the stage, and they picked up right where Heat left off. They have been on my radar as a local band that I have wanted to see for some time now and they didn’t disappoint. They crushed their set and had the Handle Bar crowd jumping, shouting and wanting more.

Soap Eater

The third act was Soap Eater, and these balaclava’d forces of nature kept the energy going with their incredibly high-density and high-energy set list, with minimal rest and maximum output.

Baby’s First Pistol

Then, the show’s final act, Baby’s First Pistol, closed the night off in style, keeping the energy going, the crowd moving, and this high-octane night rolling. Four incredible bands giving this PWYC crowd more than their money’s worth. Heat, Big Milk, Soap Eater, Baby’s First Pistol, and the Handle Bar did not disappoint. Tremendous talent and showmanship from start to finish.

Nights like these—where raw talent meets intimate venues and crowds who bleed enthusiasm—are why we champion local music. Hats off to the bands, Handle Bar for hosting, and every fan who turned a Saturday night into a sweaty, unforgettable celebration. You can find the bands here (be sure to go to their shows and support their music any way you can):
