This is the first album from Grant Lyle in 9 years. He also has 9 tracks on this new release. I am also the 9th chick amongst a dozen other brothers and sisters. Let’s explore this new music.
One my first listen Grant’s music is clean and simple. He doesn’t go into for a lot of bells and whistles to ramp up his sound. He usually will embellish these songs when he plays them live.
Grant is known for his live performances, so he keeps his recorded material open and clean. It is an honest approach that keeps the listener engaged in an easy and relaxed way.
His opener, “Won’t let you go”, is a smooth and confident declaration. It is a perfect opener to shed some light on which way we are going on this record.
Grant Thanks us in the next song. It is a fun and light approach toward gratitude. I do love that little tambourine shake. It just adds that perfect little spice that flavours this song well. It’s kinda like hollandaise sauce on eggs.
When you reach his song, “We’ll carry on”, the mood shifts into a downtrodden beat that still carries a torch of hope to help move you forward even though the load is heavy.
Grant gets into a great groove with, “One Desire”. This is a song that is supposed to light a fire in your soul and give you some purpose to your life. This one should be smoking, live!
Speaking of purpose, “Giving away”, is also a soul-searching song that seeks out a higher purpose.
Maybe this is the message of Grant’s album, “And Now”. This is the only time you truly have so go out and seek what you truly desire and go after it no matter what the obstacle.
